Andrew competed in the Odyssey of the Mind tournament at the University of Delaware in Newark on Saturday. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. (I copied and pasted, as if you couldn't tell! Ha!) Anyway, it was a long day, but the kids did a great job! The kids were a little bit disheartened because one of their teammates didn't show up. Andrew ended up having to do her part and his....so I'm sure they were docked some points for that. They didn't place in the finishing, but did receive an honorary award. Teams got nominated for having to overcome obstacles and Drew's team won! So at least their team got recognized for going on with their program!
